“Antient British Music, or a Collection of Tunes never before published, which are retained by the Cambro-Britains (more particularly in North Wales), etc., Part I. To which is prefixed an Historical account of the rise and progress of music among the Antient Britons [by Lewis Morris].”

BL Addl. MS. 14,970
Part of a collection of manuscripts in the hand of Edward Williams, better known as Iolo Morganwg. They present a compilation of medieval Welsh poetry, prose and music, copied by Williams from various early sources. Add MS 14970 contains an incomplete copy of intabulated harp music very similar to the contents of the Robert ap Huw manuscript, headed "Old Music from the book of Rhys Jones the bard." This paper examines the content of the manuscript from the basics, working upwards from the method of notation to analysis of the music.
