Aquitania

The area of southwest Gaul (and now the Aquitaine of southwest France). According to Pliny the Elder (Nat.His.4,105), it had once been called Aremorica (as was the northern area of Gaul, now called Brittany). Caesar defined it as the area between the Pyrenees, the Garonne, and the Atlantic (DBG I,1).
