Riding through Ohio
America's flat Midwest begins where
Pennsylvania's aging mountains,
Worn down from centuries,
fade into uninterrupted horizon.
Small cities rise from earth
planted like corn on fertile land.With them, the weeds--
strip malls, fast food, Walmart
choaking land
stealing water
Horizion turning
neon
in the night.
